G4S in volunteer driving seat

A group of volunteers from G4S’s Patient Transport team have completed a corporate volunteer day with Strode Park Foundation.

Nine of the colleagues came to Strode Park House in Herne on Wednesday 20 March to help with some gardening work. The group were split into two – with one helping to make the theatre tidy ready for the summer events, and the other group making sure the area at the front of the house were tidy.

Director of Fundraising and Communications, Karen Jeal, said: “I met Debbie Fassam and some of her team last year and since then they have been super supportive of Strode and the brilliant work we do for people with disabilities.

“We really value the time that our corporate volunteers give and there are many benefits to this too including team building, increased employee engagement, increased happiness levels, keeping physically fit and of course they make a difference.”

Relationship Manager, Debbie Fassam, added: “Thank you for the opportunity to volunteer for the foundation. The Fundraising team took great care of us during our time helping in the gardens. While our efforts may have seemed insignificant compared to the size of the grounds, we believe that every contribution makes a difference. We genuinely enjoyed our day of volunteering and believe that one of the best ways to discover oneself is through helping others. We are grateful for the experience.”

Karen added: “We’d love to hear from you if you are a local business and have a small (or large) group of staff who would like to come and help us for the day. All you need to do is email volunteering@strodepark.org.uk or call 01227 373292.”

A group of colleagues from the same team from G4S will also be volunteering their time in the summer at our Theatre in the Park event on Saturday 27 July.
