Strode Park Foundation is delighted to celebrate the incredible support of The Useless Pluckers, who have raised an outstanding £1,860 to help us continue our work with people with disabilities.
Since naming Strode Park Foundation as their Charity Partner of the Year at the start of 2025, the band has brought their unique blend of music, humour, and energy to audiences across Kent. Their performances have not only entertained but also generated vital funds that directly support the people we care for.
We are also thrilled to announce that The Useless Pluckers have chosen to continue their Charity of the Year partnership with us into 2026. Their ongoing commitment means so much to us, and we are very grateful for their continued support.
Band member, Tim, said, “The Useless Pluckers Band are proud and delighted to have been fundraising on behalf of the Strode Park Foundation since the beginning of 2025… Our 2025 fundraising efforts included performances at the Whitstable Active Retirement Association, Canterbury Cricket Week at the St. Lawrence Spitfire Ground, a birthday celebration at the Crescent Turner Hotel, the National Garden Scheme Day at the Whitstable Umbrella Centre, the Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival, Whitstable Harbour & Boat Show, the Oyster Indoor Bowls Club Christmas function, and outside Tesco Extra Whitstable… We are grateful to all these events and organisations for graciously supporting such a wonderful local organisation.”
Describing The Useless Pluckers, Tim explained, “The band comprises a diverse range of musicians who perform an entertaining mix of musical styles, including turn-of-the-century music hall, Tin Pan Alley and jazz standards, sea shanties, skiffle, and rock and roll. Our instruments include ukuleles, bass, cello, banjolele, washboard, cajon, tambourine, cowbell, and kazoo… At full strength, the band includes fourteen performers, although we often adapt our size to suit different venues.”
Thank you to The Useless Pluckers for your wonderful support. Your dedication helps us continue providing essential care and support to people with disabilities, and we look forward to another fantastic year working together in 2026.
