Volunteer of the Month – November

Sarah is Volunteer of the Month for November 2023, and it is truly deserved!

Sarah’s role as a volunteer is extremely varied, she assists weekly in the fundraising office helping with lots of tasks like shop window displays, filing, Christmas preparations and lots more. In addition to this Sarah helps at lots of our events putting in a shift behind the bar and lots of other activities too.

Sarah has volunteered for two years and wanted to give something back to her local community. She said: “I volunteer for Strode because they are a local charity that hold core values that align with my own morals and values. Additionally, I am also a trustee for Strode and have built this connection with them as a charity.”

And it’s the results of volunteering that mean the most to Sarah. She added: “My favourite thing about volunteering for Strode is that I get to see the results of my work on the resident’s face when they attend events and seeing my work up in the charity shop always puts a smile on my face because of the positive effect it has on the shop.

“The people are what continue to bring me back each week, they create a welcoming, positive, and uplifting environment that make me want to continue turning up.”

And when asked what one word she’d use to describe her time with us, she said simply ‘rewarding’.
