Volunteer of the Month – March

This month’s volunteer is the fantastic Harry Booker! Harry has truly aided the Strode Park Foundation in more ways than one.

Harry’s role as a volunteer is extremely varied as he dips into various roles across the Foundation. Harry plays a big part in the photography at the Strode Park Foundation as by trade Harry is a photographer/videographer with his business ‘Harry Booker Photography’. Harry is currently working on a Photography Exhibition: ‘Beyond Limits’ A Look at Life with a Disability. The exhibition will be at The Beaney, Front Room Gallery in Canterbury between 25 May – 4 August 2024.

In addition to all the photography work Harry does he is also one of our wonderful ‘event volunteers’. Harry puts in a shift behind our bar during our busy summer season of Theatre in the Park events.

Harry has only been a volunteer for a short seven months but within this time he has hugely helped our charity and the work we do.

Harry has enjoyed many aspects of his volunteering so far but the parts that stick out to him are the photography exhibition, photographing our events such as our pirate party and lastly, he thoroughly enjoyed working at the Tribute Festival.

Following from this we asked Harry why he volunteers for our foundation, and he said: “The ethos of Strode Park Foundation is close to my heart as some of my close family unfortunately suffer with physical disabilities. Helping Strode is a way I can support people with disabilities in a wider aspect and better understand what living with a disability is like.”

Talking more about ‘Beyond Limits’ we asked Harry what the most enjoyable part has been so far. Harry added: “Seeing the faces of each resident as I snapped pictures of them and how happy just a small photoshoot made each of them”.

And lastly when asked what one word he would use to describe his time with us, he said simply ‘heartwarming’.

Thank you, Harry, for all your continued hard work, we couldn’t provide the wonderful care that we do, without your support.
