Sprinting for Strode

A Herne Bay local will be running his socks off in April for Strode Park Foundation.

Chris Nash will be taking part in the Virtual London Marathon in aid of the Strode Park.

The virtual marathon gives people the chance to take part in the London Marathon without the stress of trying to gain and book a place.

Chris, of Holbourn Close, will be able to download the official TCS marathon app, to access training regimes, track his 26.2 miles on the day and once completed he will receive a t-shirt, and of course earn their coveted finisher’s medal.

Chris will take on his challenge on Sunday 21 April 2024 and will take on a route of his choice – from Herne Bay to Whitstable and back again. The 41-year-old will be using the Saxon Shore half marathon route and doubling this up to complete his miles.

He said: “I have run three marathons, all for charity. I like to run for charity as this gives me a target and goal to achieve. It makes it more enjoyable and rewarding. I am looking forward to sprinting for Strode!”

Chris has been running for more than 10 years and is still enjoying it to this day. He has previously used a training plan on the London Marathon web page, this is usually the intermediate training plan and will help with his training and keeping fit for the big day.

Strode Park has been close to Chris’ heart since he was young and he has supported the charity for many years by attending some of our events like Theatre in Parks, fayres and many more.

Chris added: “I am now bringing my children to these events so they can begin to support a local charity such as Strode and hopefully follow in my running footsteps!”

As Chris is a part of the local community surrounding Strode Park, Chris has always tried to support the Foundation in any way possible. He hopes to raise as much as possible for the cause.

Chris is not the only person running to fundraise. Amanda Lailey, Home Manager here at Strode Park House, a number of her colleagues and Coralie Smith from Active Life in Herne Bay are both taking part in running the Virtual Marathon.
