Safety first with new medication system

Strode Park Foundation is continuing to take the safety of its residents and service users seriously by introducing an electronic system to administer medication.

The Kent charity has been trialling the roll out of an electronic medication administration system (eMARs) at its Lady Dane Farmhouse home in Faversham and after the successful pilot is looking to now bring this technology in across all of its services.

Director of Care, John Cotterill, said: “Delivering high quality care safely is Strode Park’s top priority. Investment in our people and in state of the art technology, including now Atlas eMAR, underpins our excellent safety record. We have found this system helps our care team to keep track of medication more easily. I’m delighted that because of Atlas eMAR frontline staff are able to spend more time with residents rather than completing and checking paperwork or making phone calls to do with medication.”

Strode Park Foundation has awarded the contract for delivery to Invatech Health, whose Atlas electronic medicine management system has been proven to also improve accountability and efficiency for residents and staff, as well as enabling closer working with local GP and pharmacy services.

Leanne Anslow, Registered Home Manager at Lady Dane Farmhouse, added: “The system has been a huge success. The list of positives is endless, the whole process has been made so much simpler. We are still learning as we go and improving practice to get the best outcomes but we have already seen massive benefits. I can’t praise the new system enough and feel it will really benefit the other services, saving on time and administration once up and running.”

Sajid Ramzan, National Sales Manager at Invatech Health Ltd, said: “It has been a very positive experience working with the teams at Strode Park Foundation, certainly what is clear is that the teams are looking at the best innovation to help staff better look after their residents. The teams’ passion is ensuring safety and compliance is at the heart of what they do and I am so proud that Atlas eMAR can help meet their objectives, to date the roll out has been one of the easiest mainly because all of the staff are so engaged and onboard.”
