The president of the Rotary Club of Canterbury, Forest of Blean is finishing his fundraising year for Strode Park Foundation with a charity concert.
Mike Moore, who is president for the club in 2023/24, chose Strode Park Foundation to support as his ‘Charity of the Year’.
Mike said: ”I got to know the work of Strode Park about six years ago and have been very impressed the way they provide fantastic care, the Foundation was my first choice, to be my charity in my year as President”
Karen Jeal, Strode Park’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, said: “We have been thrilled that Mike has chosen to support Strode. He has been connected to our charity for many years since we took over the Fynvola Foundation in 2018, and we are honoured that he has chosen to support people with disabilities for his presidential year.
“We hope as many of our supporters will get behind their big final fundraiser and help us to raise together as much money as possible for children, young people and adults with disabilities.”
Mike and his fellow Rotarians have been fundraising throughout the year, but his presidential year will culminate in a large event at Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday 1 June. This event welcomes the London Welsh Male Voice Choir for this charity concert in such a magnificent setting.
The London Welsh Male Voice Choir has sung at many of Britain’s most prestigious concert halls and cathedrals, has appeared twice at the Royal Variety Command Performances and has recorded with Charlotte Church, Aled Jones and Bryn Terfel. Sung at Stonehenge and entertained at Principality Stadium Cardiff.
Tickets can be bought from the Canterbury Festival Box Office www.canterburyfestival.co.uk Tickets are £37, £27, £22, £17 (Incl. £2 booking fee per ticket).
Karen and Chief Executive Paul Montgomery were invited to a special dinner last night (29 April) where they were presented with a cheque for £3,000 – the amount the club has raised so far through the year – with the cycle ride and concert sales still to be added to this total.
Karen added: “We have been bowled over by the generosity of this club and look forward to future relations with them.”
