Olly’s Million Step Challenge

A young lad from Herne is putting his best foot forward and taking a million steps before the end of May.

Olly Crimmins is taking on the mammoth challenge to raise money for Strode Park Foundation.

The 13-year-old has set a goal of raising £100.

He said: “I’m doing a million steps challenge in three months. It forms part of my Duke of Edinburgh award at school.”

Olly’s challenge started on 1 March and he’s striding confidently towards hitting the million milestone.

He added: “I started the challenge at the beginning of March and so far I’m on target. Every day I go out at least once to meet my target which is approximately 11,100 steps.”

He’s supporting Strode Park as part of his DoE award. He said: “I know about Strode Park through family and the many fun events I went to when I was younger. I also wanted to support a local charity to benefit those living around me.”

Director of Fundraising and Communications, Karen Jeal, said: “What Olly is doing is amazing. He’s decided to support Strode as part of his DoE award which is all about trying something new, helping your community, testing your limits, enhancing skills and growing confidence. Olly has done all of those things as part of this challenge and that’s exactly the ethos we have at Strode. All residents live life the way they choose and are encouraged to have independence, well-being and choice. Well done Olly, we think what you’re doing is super and something you should feel very proud of.”
