Lailey’s London Marathon

On Sunday 21st April, the home manager of Strode Park House, Amanda Lailey, will be taking part in the TCS London Marathon.

Amanda is very excited for the marathon and told us: “I am equal measures of excited and nervous, the excitement of knowing what we will achieve and raising money for my residents is what is pushing me through my training”.

Amanda’s training started back in January and so far, she has completed one, ten-mile walk and three, eight-mile walks. Amanda is pushing herself each and every week to up her distance.

Amanda, along with the other team members Jamie Wilson, Coralie Smith, Helen Andrews, Rosita Sheppard, Charlotte James and Nenalia Hannington, will complete 106 laps of the Strode Park House garden, which will amount to 26.2 miles. The team will encourage and push each other to fulfil their goal. When asking Amanda what advice would she give to the other team members, she said: “It is not a race, and nobody will be left behind.”

Completing the marathon will mean a lot to Amanda as she feels that sense of accomplishment, as she knows this was all in aid of her amazing residents. After quizzing Amanda about her training regimes and so much more, we wanted to know if Amanda felt ready, and to that she replied, “I will be”.

Feeling optimistic about the marathon, Amanda is continuing her training, and not letting anything get in the way of her reaching her goal. Amanda has completed two marathons before, but this time it will be for Strode Park Foundation, knowing her residents will be their to cheer her on, helps boost her confidence, knowing she will do this!

If you feel optimistic about taking on a challenge, then why not become one of our challenge heroes’. We have just one space left and you can join our team here at Strode Park House or do a route that suits you.
