Josie’s big 100

A Strode Park supporter has crossed the finish line in 35th place in a gruelling 100km race on Saturday 3 July.

Josie Nye, from Sittingbourne, started the Serpent Trail course at 6am and completed the 62 mile run 12 hours and 33 minutes later crossing the finish line as the 5th fastest female and 35th out of 206 overall.

Josie’s run was watched on by a number of supporters at a socially distanced fundraising event at Goody Ales in Herne on Saturday afternoon where Josie’s progress was watched in eager anticipation on a big screen.

Josie said afterwards: “It was the most tiring thing I have ever done and what made it worse is that I could not sleep afterwards because of a combination of muscle spasms, nettle stings and scratches. But it was worth it.”

Josie has raised more than £2,000 for Strode Park’s home in Faversham. The money raised will go to help create a garden at Lady Dane Farmhouse for the residents to enjoy.
