Helen makes a splash for Strode

By Shawna McGuire

One of Strode Park Foundation’s very own Care and Support Workers is diving in the deep end to raise money for the charity.

Helen Andrews, who works for Strode Park House, is taking on a challenge of her own by completing a 15-mile swim in 15 weeks to help raise money for Strode Park.

Helen has split the challenge across 15 weeks, which is similar to a fundraising feat she participated in previously where she did a swim the length of the English Channel in 12 weeks.

Her swim began on 23 February and she hopes to finish by 6 June.

She said: “I love caring for people and helping them live a better life. I hope the money I raise will make a difference towards either a piece of equipment or therapy.”

Her goal is to raise at least £200.

Helen has worked for Strode since June 2019, she added: “I really want to help Strode Park continue its valuable work as well as to challenge myself and keep fit.”

Helen was a member of the Canterbury Swimming Club when she was around 10 years old and has completed a few swim-a-thons and a couple channel swims over the last few years.
