Fiona’s Final Hurdle!

Fiona Anelay is not only taking on the challenge of the Brighton Marathon for Strode Park Foundation but has also completed two other runs this year – a 10k and a half-marathon – to raise much needed funds for Strode Park Foundation. The Brighton Marathon will be the final hurdle in this trio of runs. Our mighty runner is also a volunteer for the services and has taken on many of Strode Park’s previous fundraising events.

The 52-year-old from Herne Bay was new to running when she started this challenge and began her journey with a ‘homemade’ version of Couch to 5k and has been slowly but steadily building up her running abilities from there.

Fiona completed the Whitstable 10k in 1:08:52 – a three-year personal best, she also completed the Saxon Shore half marathon on 13 June in an amazing 3:05:41. The runner is now looking to finish her first ever marathon in six hours.

Fiona admitted she was nervous about the race day due to never having done a full marathon before but is preparing herself for the challenge with lots more training. Fiona said, “My main aim is simply to finish the race, ideally on the same day that I start.”

If you would also like to support Fiona in her fundraising efforts and give her that extra push across her third finish line this year, you can do so by visiting: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fiona-anelay2

Good luck Fiona, we know you will smash it!
