Fantastic Five to take on the Brighton Marathon

Five local people are putting their best foot forward this year and are running in the 2020 Brighton Marathon to help raise money to support children and adults with disabilities.

Following on from a campaign where applicants were asked to tell us about themselves, why they would like to run the Brighton Marathon for Strode Park and how much money they think they could raise, five lucky runners have been selected to take on the 26.2 mile Brighton course on 19 April 2020.

Our enthusiastic and determined runners have now been named as Marlena Parchomiuk, Lisa Castle, Carol Gillatt, Adam Roy and Robert Smith and they all have their very different reasons for running for the charity.

As Marlena says: “I have been working for Strode Park Foundation at Lady Dane Farmhouse for over a year now. Running is my passion. I have run a few marathons before so I would love to do it again and support my company this way”.

Carol has also said “I will be 59 years of age at the time of the race and I generally try to keep myself as fit as I can without killing myself. I work for Active Life and my role involves supporting and encouraging the more mature person to start exercise and to stay exercising for as long as possible. I have a wonderful team and we all work really hard. I love to organise fund raising events to help me raise funds for Strode Park. We have raised a total of £2259 for Strode Park since 2006, the last amount being £486 in 2018”.

With the runner’s intense training for the marathon now underway, we would love for the community to join their journey and help them raise lots of money for Strode Park Foundation. We’re following them every gruelling step of the way and are looking forward to cheering them on in April. All runners will be wearing official Strode Park running vests and t-shirts on the day so please give them your encouragement if you spot them in the crowd.

If you would like to sponsor any of our runners, you can do this by visiting our donations page and selecting Brighton Marathon 2020 as the donation type.
