Desmond John

I joined Strode Park as Finance Director in July this year.

I am a qualified accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). I have over 20 years’ experience of working in the charity sector and therefore familiar with the challenges facing the charity sector. I am looking forward with excitement in my role as finance director, to using my knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution in improving the experiences of our service users.

My previous experiences include nine years working for West London Mission where I started as Finance and Operations Manager and later becoming their Head of Finance. West London Mission (WLM) is a charity whose mission is to empower people affected by homelessness, poverty, and trauma, to make positive changes in their lives. Prior to WLM, I spent four years as Senior Financial Accountant working for the Medical Research Council which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

In my spare time I also do voluntary work for my church and currently serving as treasurer for our Methodist Circuit.

My main interest outside of work is spending quality time with my wife and two kids and keeping abreast of current affairs. I also like keeping fit by playing football, table tennis and swimming.
