Walking with purpose: The Great 400 Miles Step Challenge

A huge thank you to Irene, Kay, Fran, and Judy for taking on the incredible ‘Great 400 Miles Step Challenge’ in support of residents with disabilities at Lady Dane Farmhouse.

This inspiring group all have family members living at Lady Dane Farmhouse, and they decided to turn that personal connection into action by challenging themselves to walk 400 miles each by the end of January.

Together, they have already walked an impressive 882 miles, braving rain, cold, and dark days to keep their steps adding up.

Judy said, “Walking in the cold and rain is no fun , but every cold and wet step is worth it for the residents of Lady Dane Farmhouse.”

Kay shared how the challenge surprised her:

“I initially thought this would be easy as I am super active… and after the first week, it was clear that active does not equal mileage! Since then, rain or shine, I’ve walked the walk and learned that if it was easy, it wouldn’t be a challenge.”

Fran spoke about why this cause means so much to her:

“Lady Dane Farmhouse holds a special place in my heart, and supporting it is incredibly important to me, especially when we are walking in all weathers to try and raise as much as we can to help all the residents of Lady Dane Farmhouse. We want to use the funds for something that everyone can have access to and utilise to give some joy or happiness from.”

The generosity shown so far has been overwhelming. Irene reflected on the impact of the donations already received and the team’s ambitions moving forward:

“We are amazed at the generous donations received so far and now we are aiming higher, hoping to further enrich the lives of Lady Dane Farmhouse residents by providing new experiences not normally available to them.”

While the miles already walked are impressive, there is still a long way to go. Every step brings them closer to their goal and every donation helps make a real difference to the lives of Lady Dane Farmhouse residents.
