VE Day celebrations at Strode Park Foundation
Our homes in Faversham and Herne celebrated VE day this year with some amazing parties!
Residents at Lady Dane Farmhouse, Footprints, and The Coach House marked a moment in history this May, as they joined the nation in celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
To honour the occasion, our homes were transformed with themed decorations, creating a wartime atmosphere, together with sing-alongs and dancing. Some residents from Footprints also joined Lady Dane Farmhouse residents for a fabulous performance of ‘Roll Out the Barrel.’
The celebrations included themed games, craft activities, and plenty of delicious food inspired by the war era. Staff at both homes worked hard to make the day special, and the smiles on the residents’ faces made it all worthwhile.
Lynn Morgan, Service Administrator, said, “The residents all had a great day with lots of wartime tunes playing, games, and a party buffet.”
Claire Dante, Lady Dane Farmhouse Registered Manager, shared, “Fun was had by all! A huge thank you to Gary and Wayne—‘Brahms Third Racket’—who provided amazing live music. The residents even joined in with dancing and playing instruments themselves. Another big thank you to Stacey, our kitchen assistant, who put together a wonderful party spread, with help from Angela, her ‘sous chef’, and Becky for the fabulous decorations.”
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day one to remember for our residents and staff.
