Launching our 80^th Anniversary Wheels Appeal

This year marks an incredible milestone for Strode Park Foundation as we celebrate 80 years of supporting people with disabilities. To honour this achievement, we are proud to launch our Wheels Appeal, with a goal to raise £80,000 to provide vital, accessible vehicles for the people we support.

For our residents, transport is not a luxury, it is essential. Accessible vehicles enable them to attend crucial hospital and medical appointments, take part in community activities, and enjoy simple but meaningful experiences like visiting local parks or going on social outings. Without suitable transport, many of these opportunities would not be possible.

With your support, we aim to purchase a fully accessible minibus and two specially adapted cars. These vehicles will provide safe, reliable, and comfortable transport for our residents and helping them stay connected and active.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real and lasting difference.

Mark’s Story: Why your support matters

Mark has been a resident at Strode Park House for five years. After contracting COVID-19, he faced incredible challenges. He spent five months in a coma and then suffered a stroke, leaving him reliant on a wheelchair and with no mobility in one arm.

Mark enjoys life at Strode Park House and loves getting out into the community, but he says, “I can’t get out very often.” Day trips to the seaside and local parks bring him great joy, especially when he can share them with other residents. These outings are not just leisure activities, they are vital for Mark’s health and wellbeing. When he can’t get out, he feels depressed and unhappy.

“We are lucky we have lovely gardens at Strode Park House,” he says, “but it’s a bit boring when I can’t get out. Going on outings makes me happier and more positive.”

Mark also needs reliable transport for essential hospital appointments. Strode Park Foundation’s current vehicles, especially the minibuses, are limited and unreliable. They often need parts replaced and there is only one minibus, so there is high demand for it.
