Catering Assistant - Strode Park House
About the Role
Come and join our busy kitchen team at Strode Park House as a Catering Assistant!
We are now recruiting for a part time permanent role, working 20 hours per week - 10:00 - 14:00 Saturday and Sunday each week to support the kitchen's needs.
As a Catering Assistant at Strode Park House, your main duties will be to assist the Senior Cooks with the running of the kitchen by supporting the team with food preparation whilst maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Job Opportunity
As Catering Assistant you will be:
- Working with the Cooks to ensure that all service users receive the most appropriate food and drink, and their choices are safely met.
- Assisting with food preparation as instructed by the Cooks and Catering Manager.
- Being flexible and responsive to the needs of the service users.
- Accepting deliveries of goods, and maintaining good stock rotation.
- Other responsibilities will include washing up, cleaning food preparation areas and equipment in an efficient manner and ensuring there is high standard of cleanliness within the kitchen and dining room areas within the home at all times.
Our kitchen staff are a dedicated team, providing a crucial service, ensuring our residents enjoy healthy and nutritious meals.
Strode Park House is a 19th Century Victorian Manor House set in 14 acres of beautiful grounds in the picturesque village of Herne, Kent. We are a nursing and residential home offering both long and short-term care for adults aged 18 and upwards.
Essential Skills
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualities:
- A willingness to learn and a desire to train as a Catering Assistant.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative and engaging way.
- An interest in working in adult care services.
- Basic education including English and maths.
- Commitment to your own professional development.
Although not essential, it would be an advantage if you have:
- Previous kitchen experience, not necessarily gained through employment.
- A knowledge of health and safety practices within a kitchen environment.
- Any qualification in catering/hospitality.
