Young Adult Services

Redwalls is a small and friendly residential care home for up to six young adults with physical and mild learning disabilities. The focus is on supporting people to achieve their own goals and aspirations and live as independently as possible.

It offers a smaller, homely environment where young adults can benefit from the feeling of security, helping them to gain confidence and enjoy new social opportunities.

Our vibrant and friendly Day Opportunities Team are on hand to ensure everybody gets the maximum benefit from their day with us. All programmes are tailored specifically to meet individual needs and include a two-course lunch, wide range of activities and the opportunity to make new friends.

We offer two different programmes at Strode Park’s site in Herne, Kent.

Sensory Enrichment programme 

This is designed for young adults with disabilities who face barriers in accessing the world around them. We offer a range of activities and opportunities to broaden sensory physical and communication experiences including:

  • Rhythm & Sound Therapy,
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Sensory therapy with magic carpet interactive equipment
  • Out and Active
  • Cooking
  • Massage
  • Story Time
  • Art and crafts

Our facilities include superbly equipped hydrotherapy pool, therapy suite, sensory room, spacious activities room and fully equipped changing and toilet facilities.

Working towards independence 

This programme is run by our Lifestyle Academy for Independence. Here students can embark on an exciting new journey towards a more independent life. We will help to increase life skills through our Asdan training programme, undertake work experience and we will show students how to access the community around them.

Our facilities include computer suite, training kitchen, hydropool, drama room, sensory room and large spacious activities room.

With the seaside towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable close by, and the historic city of Canterbury just up the road, The Coach House is a fantastic respite care and holiday destination for young adults with disabilities.

Set in 14 acres of beautiful and accessible grounds in the village of Herne, our guests can enjoy a safe and enjoyable stay supported by our enthusiastic team. Support and advice are available throughout, enabling our visitors to be as independent as they wish.

The Lifestyles Academy for Independence (LAFI) is a vibrant independence training centre where young adults, aged from 18 years upwards, with a physical and/or mild learning disability, plan and embark upon their journey to independent living.

We offer training programmes for young adults with disabilities to learn the necessary skills needed for independent living. Residential and day places are available and there is the opportunity to move to the Foundation’s supported living bungalows in the local community.
