This week Strode Park’s Chief Executive Paul Montgomery, Director of HR Kerry Bardsley and members of the HR Team Alice Smith, Sam Stuart and Emma Hopkins went 'back to the floor' spending time working alongside some of our key Strode Park Foundation staff in the kitchen and the Hotel Services area so that they can better understand what their roles include.

This is a new initiative for Strode Park and gave Paul, Kerry, Alice, Sam and Emma the chance to see first-hand the rewards and frustrations that front line staff experience as well as providing opportunities for identifying improvements that will make a real difference to residents, service users and staff.

Jobs included collecting laundry, stocking linen, preparing refreshments for residents and preparing lunch for residents in the kitchen.

Paul said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was very impressed with how efficient things were and I was even more impressed with the interaction between the residents and our staff. It was incredibly heart-warming and inspiring. The people I worked with are a credit to their teams and the foundation as a whole.”

Kerry said: “I felt very humbled by the care and compassion shown in their work and the difference they made to our residents. I was paired up with Natachia who clearly loves her work and the pride she takes in her job is wonderful to see. It’s really easy to make assumptions about the work that goes on but having this insight was really beneficial to see how hard our whole care team work and has made me truly appreciate what a great team we have at Strode Park.”

Sam added: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the kitchen. The team were welcoming and gave us plenty of work to get stuck into; from chopping and peeling onions and making egg custard through to cleaning the industrial cooker. It was brilliant to get back on the floor and get involved in some practical tasks. My experience has made me even more aware of the hard work that goes on in the kitchen every day. Thanks to the team for all your hard work to provide delicious food for our service users and the staff.”
