“I am a health economist with more than 30 years’ experience working in commercial, public and academic settings.

Until May 2015, I was Chairman of East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. I had held this position since 2007, having initially joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2001. During my time as Chairman, I led the Trust successfully through the Foundation Trust application process, achieving authorisation on 1st March 2009. The following year, the organisation achieved the accolade of being named Foundation Trust of the year.

I am currently Chairman of East Kent Hospitals’ Charity Appeal to raise funds for the development of Services for Dementia; a trustee of the League of Friends of the Kent and Canterbury Hospital; a Non-Executive Director of Active Life, a company contracted by Canterbury City Council to run and develop the Council’s five leisure centres; and a Kent Ambassador, an organisation which seeks to promote all aspects of life in the county of Kent. I re-joined SPF’s Council of Management in November 2015, having initially been a member between 2007 and 2012.”
