Strode Park House

Strode Park House is a 19th Century Victorian Mansion set in 14 acres of beautiful grounds. All residents’ rooms and living areas are on the ground floor.

Strode Park House has 40 places which offer adults with disabilities a relaxed homely atmosphere where a continuous holistic assessment of their needs ensures that quality of life is as high as possible.

People move into Strode Park House for both long and short term (respite). Although when people come in they are aged 18-65 years we are pleased to offer a ‘home for life’ for those who need it.

Nursing Care

Strode Park House is equipped and skilled to meet a very high level of care needs. In addition to the nursing and care team’s well respected range of nursing and care skills; part of the home is a specialised neuro-rehabilitation unit. The NHS recognise the home’s abilities as providers of specialist nursing care for people with physical disabilities; and in particular those with complex, severe, unpredictable and high levels of need which necessitate ‘continuing care’. The home is also very well able to sensitively meet the needs of people who are known to be approaching the end of their life.

Residential Care

Residential care placements are managed in the same home as our nursing clients and needs are similarly tailored by the care team so as to meet clients’ individual needs.

Teamwork

The Foundation’s 60 years experience of caring for this specialist client group has provided our staff with their expert knowledge. Nurses are supported by a team of NVQ qualified care staff as well as an Activities Co-ordinator, Physiotherapist, Resident’s Advocate/Counsellor and local General Practitioner who holds a weekly clinic in the Home.

Therapies, including physiotherapy, are available on site and all residents are assessed to identify if they would benefit from physiotherapy or any of the other therapies offered in RISE: the Therapy and Personal Development centre attached to Strode Park House.

Care Planning

Care and support is centred on, and wherever possible led by, the individual concerned so as to maintain or enhance independence, well-being and choice. The role of staff is to guide people through their ‘care and support’ journey.

Health & Safety

The Foundation has a minimal lifting policy and has a large number and wide range of specialist lifting aids to ensure the comfort and safety of all.

Quality Assurance

The Foundation has achieved the ‘Investors in People’ award in recognition of the high standards attained in staff training to provide high quality care. Strode Park House is registered with the Commission for Social Care and Inspection (CSCI). Open Inspection Reports are available from Strode Park or online at CSCI.org.uk.

Residents Representative Committee

A Residents’ Representative Committee comprising of elected residents meets monthly and actively participates in decision making in the Home.

Food & Drink

The nutritional needs and wishes of individuals are practically and sensitively considered by the staff team in the home. Although the main dining room and two other dining areas are very pleasant indeed, residents may choose another location to eat or drink such as ‘al fresco’, in their room, or with their guests. Arrangements may also be made to eat outside of published meal times. Staff will assist residents with menu guidance and one of our cooks is readily available to discuss needs and preferences.

Bedrooms

All residents have the opportunity of a room of their own in one of 37 single rooms. 3 double rooms with en-suite are available for people who prefer to share.

Residents are encouraged and enabled to make their rooms as homely and as individualised as they like, including bringing in their own personal items and furniture.

Bathrooms

The home’s showering and bathing facilities are plentiful, varied and excellent including special height adjustable spa baths and electric hoists.

Bar & Lounge

The Home has a licensed Bar and a large lounge for relaxing, watching television and listening to music.

Residents’ Shop

There is a residents’ shop run by volunteers located within the Home selling a range of products including confectionery, soft drinks and toiletries.

Personal Services

Residents may choose to be visited by one of our recommended hairdressers, chiropodists, complementary therapists or beauty therapists. However, each person is able to make their own choice and some residents will prefer to go out for personal services.
