Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy within neurological rehabilitation, involves the assessment and treatment of speech, language and communication problems in people with acquired neurological conditions. Speech and Language therapy assessments focus on a persons ability to comprehend and express language and on their functional communication. Treatment aims to enable the person to communicate to the best of their ability and promote communicative independence.

The role of the Speech and Language Therapist also includes the assessment, treatment and provision of rehabilitation management strategies, for people with swallowing difficulties associated with neurological conditions.

The Speech and Language Therapy department at Strode Park has strong links with the Communication Aids Team for East Kent, who provide a regular service for the Reability unit.
