Strode park provides a fantastic respite care and holiday destination, just a short distance from the seaside towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable and the lively Cathedral City of Canterbury. We have two locations for respite care at Strode Park depending on your needs and wishes.
Strode Park House
A charming 19th Century Victorian manor house, offers single room accommodation on ground floor level with spacious dining room, lounge and social areas. The house is permanent home to 40 people with physical disabilities and we have a number of rooms available for respite care guests.
The ReAbility Wing
A new ‘state of the art’ neuro-rehabilitation wing adjoined to Strode Park House, containing 15 fully adapted ensuite bedrooms, two of the rooms are set aside for respite care guests.
The ReAbility Wing and Strode Park House respite visitors enjoy the same levels of care, support, access to facilities and social opportunities as permanent residents including; outings and during the summer, free entertainment at Theatre in the Park (a fully wheelchair accessible open air theatre in the grounds of Strode Park).

The Coach House
The Coach House offers short breaks and day respite care for young adults (18 – 35 years) with physical and learning disabilities. A supportive environment where young adults can be as independent as they wish.
Short breaks are usually for one or two weeks but can be shorter or longer.
A wide range of social, creative and sporting activities are available for guests to participate in. Accommodation comprises of 8 single bedrooms plus 1 bedsit, spacious lounge and dining areas and fully equipped computer suite.
Redwalls, situated just outside Canterbury, offers residential and respite care for up to 6 young adults with physical and learning disabilities from the ages of 18 upwards. Redwalls staff are skilled and experienced in supporting teenagers and young adults with complex disabilities and behavioural challenges. It offers a smaller homely environment where young adults can benefit from the feeling of security, helping them to gain in confidence and enjoy new social opportunities.

The accommodation includes comfortable single bedrooms, a communal dining room and spacious lounge equipped with computers and a theatre style TV.
Platters Farm Lodge
Platters Farm Lodge is a purpose-built residential care home and day centre offering high quality respite, rehabilitation and day care services.
The centre was opened in 1986 and is set in spacious landscaped gardens, situated within travelling distance from Rainham railway station and the High Street.
The accommodation is all on ground floor level with disabled access throughout and comprises three wings all named after aspects of the English countryside. Each wing is self-contained with a communal lounge/dining room with television, DVD and radio plus a kitchenette where residents can prepare light snacks and drinks. There is an alarm call system in every room throughout the centre.
