The ReAbility service at Strode Park is a residential neurological rehabilitation service providing client centred therapy in a setting which can provide both short and long term rehabilitation.
The ReAbility Wing
Set in the beautiful grounds of Strode Park the Reability wing is a modern purpose built rehabilitation unit containing 15 ensuite rooms designed to accommodate a range of disabilities. As an independent provider we are not restricted to statutory provision alone and enjoy access to a wide network of local and regional support services. We endeavour to provide surroundings that clients will see as the next best thing to their own home whist they plan for discharge back to their own community and homes.
The principle service aim is to enable clients to achieve mutually agreed goals which are set following an assessment period. These goals are frequently reviewed and form part of the regular planning carried out to ensure the program is being effective. Therapies on offer include:
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech and Language Therapy
All therapists are fully qualified specialist clinicians with extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation. The team also has additional therapy support workers who can provide daily input with all activities to reinforce the aims of therapy. Interventions are evidence based being evaluated through rigorous outcome measurement and there are also complimentary therapies available to supplement the core program. Specialist interventions such as Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and Saeboflex upper-limb rehabilitation can also be incorporated into programs.
ReAbility’s position close to Herne Bay and Canterbury gives plenty of scope for community based activities and the service aims to deliver a balance of both social and therapeutic intervention in preparation for independent or supported living. There are also self contained living units on the grounds which can provide a chance for clients to live with minimal intervention or support should that be an appropriate progression in their rehabilitation. The team are very keen to follow rehabilitation right through to reintegration into community living and can provide long term out-patient support and intervention, should this be required.
We actively encourage all prospective clients, their families or representatives to visit the ReAbility Service at Strode Park to view the facilities for themselves. This could also be an opportunity for all parties to discuss their rehabilitation needs and for the team to make an initial assessment. If it is not possible to visit, a home or current placement assessment can be carried out. All referrals are considered on an individual basis.
As well as rehabilitation programs The ReAbility Service at Strode Park can offer respite beds on a regular or ad hoc basis. These respite periods can include therapy input or simply be a chance for clients and their families to rest.
