Patrons gather to launch new Spa Appeal
On Thursday 1st August 2013 Strode Park Foundation launched an exciting new project to build a Spa Suite complete with Swimming Pool.
A small gathering including our Patrons Mr Terry Waite CBE and Amanda Cottrell OBE were in attendance as a presentation was made to outline the details of the build, and discuss the benefits of the spa for our residents and clients. This was followed by a tour of the Foundations services giving many of the residents and clients an opportunity to spend time with both of our Patrons making the day a very enjoyable event for everyone.
The Spa Suite will take the form of a single storey glass fronted extension, adjoined to the rear of Strode Park House nursing and residential care home. The building will be equipped with a new Spa/Therapy Pool which combines the most advanced counter current swimming technology with a luxurious home spa of the highest quality. It also includes a powered underwater treadmill for walking or running in place. The building will include changing facilities and beauty therapy room.
The Spa Suite will enable Strode Park Foundation to deliver supervised aqua therapy sessions for people needing targeted rehabilitation, and also offer a wonderful swimming/spa facility to provide physical comfort, achieve a sense of well being and improve the quality of life, especially for those otherwise unable to experience any postural position other than being in bed or being in their specially shaped wheelchair or care chair.
This project will also significantly enhance wheelchair accessibility by widening and levelling of an existing narrow corridor in Strode Park House.
The project cost is £222,000 which will be raised entirely through fundraising, we are therefore hoping to have the support of Trusts, Corporate Organisations and the general public to raise the funds and help us to achieve our goal.
If you would like to hold an event or fundraise for this project which will benefit over 300 local children & adults with disabilities we would be delighted to have your support.
Please contact Tracy Barden or Michelle Moxley in the Strode Park Fundraising Department.
What a difference your support makes!
A new sensory playground for the children
Thanks to the generous donations of St. James Foundation, The Lady Freemasons, Faversham and District LVA and many other groups and individual donors, we have been able to start the first phase of a brand new sensory playground at Footprints, our residential and respite care home for children with disabilities.
This fantastic new project incorporates a variety of sensory play equipment focusing on colour and sound as well as wheelchair swings, a large nest swing and a specially adapted sandpit. The first phase was completed in time for the summer holidays and the children have had a wonderful time exploring the new play area and having fun on all the equipment.
We now need to raise a further £8,000 to complete the playground and we are hoping to achieve this by next spring.

On the 1st December 2012 we held our Christmas Fair which was a huge success and raised a record breaking £3,000 for the charity.
Many local people and Strode Park residents turned out to do a spot of Christmas shopping from the variety of stalls which were selling wonderful gifts, toys and home produce and lots of children had the chance to meet Santa and get their lists in nice and early! Mulled wine was a popular choice of refreshment in the cold but sunny weather and our children’s entertainer had the little ones enthralled with his magic show.
We wish to thank all our volunteers, everyone that came and braved the cold weather and also the local businesses that donated goods and prizes including: Superior Care, KM Charity Treasure Chest, P&O Ferries, WHAL Ltd, Active Life, Furley Page Solicitors, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons Herne Bay & Canterbury, Reeves & Co, Canterbury Garden Centre, Herne, The Co-operative Funeralcare Canterbury/Herne Bay, The Marlowe Theatre and Theatrecraft.
