Footprints
Inspiring services for children with disabilities
Footprints is a residential care home for children with disabilities which offers a range of services tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. The home, set within a lovely rural environment at Stodmarsh near the city of Canterbury in Kent, is registered for up to 12 children. Our services are aimed at supporting children with a wide range of disabilities including; Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Battens and Dravets to name a just a few.
Preparing children for foster family life
We specialise in preparing children with disabilities and complex behaviours to be ready for fostering. Working together with the child, the care manager and the potential foster family we are able to facilitate successful foster placements for difficult to place children.
Residential care and short breaks
Footprints can also offer high quality long stay residential care and short breaks for children aged between 5 and 17 years.
Day care options
As a flexible resource, Footprints offers bespoke care packages which can include day care sessions to give families and children a break or change of scene.
Footprints expertise
Our staff are caring and professional and trained in many specialist areas including; Oxygen therapy, Chest Physiotherapy, Gastrostromies and Jejunostomies.
We are skilled and experienced in supporting children and teenagers with complex disabilities and additional behavioural challenges including;
- erractic sleep pattens
- inappropriate eating pattens and habits
- conditions that need nursing or therapeutic support
- special educational support needs
- sensory challenges, reduced mobility
- the need to develop appropriate social behaviours
Footprints Facilities
Footprints is situated in a beautiful rural location but is close to all the amenities offered by the historic city of Canterbury including good road and rail links to London.
The facilities at Footprints include accommodation on two floors with day room, sensory room, quiet room, dining room and spa, all set in lovely grounds with a woodland area and sensory garden. Our facilities are imaginative and inviting creating a positive environment which enables the development and self-expression of children with disabilities.
